There are two main species in the Blacktail Deer family, although both are technically a subspecies of the mule deer, these are the Sitka and the Columbian Blacktail deer. The Columbian Black-Tailed Deer, or Odocoileus hemionus columbianus, is found in the Pacific Northwest of the United States and throughout coastal British Columbia. The Sitka Black-Tailed Deer is commonly found throughout Canada’s British Columbia and the Southeastern region of Alaska.
